On June 15, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received the delegation of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) - Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary-General Jean-Louis Atangana Amougou and the Special Adviser to the Secretary General Jacques Bilodeau.

At the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the visit of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to headquarters of the International Organisation of La Francophonie in March, as well as the implementation of agreements reached during his meeting with Secretary General Michaëlle Jean.

They discussed in details the wide array of issues concerning the preparation of the 17th Summit of La Francophonie, to be held in Yerevan in 2018. Presenting the preparation process, Foreign Minister of Armenia noted, that the interagency commission and working groups have already held meetings, and that different state agencies have already started relevant preparatory works.

The senior representatives of the Secretariat of La Francophonie highly appreciated the involvement of Armenia, as one of the most active members of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, in the activities of the Organisation. According to them, the effective cooperation between Armenia and the Secretariat of the Organisation during the OIF Ministerial Conference, held in Yerevan in 2015, is a good basis for the successful organisation of the forthcoming Summit.

The interlocutors discussed issues on the agenda of the Ministerial Conference to be held in Togo in November, as well as the works to be implemented by Armenia, after assuming the chairmanship of the Conference.
