On August 8, political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and China were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Huilai was representing the Chinese side.
During the consultations, a wide range of issues related to the Armenian-Chinese relations in various fields was discussed, including the political dialogue between the two countries, organisation of high level mutual visits, cooperation within the framework of international organisations, trade and economic, cultural and educational ties, the activation of tourist flows, expansion of the legal framework and collaboration in the consular field.
Both sides commended the dynamically developing relations between the two countries and significant achievements in recent years. The Armenian side expressed gratitude for the technical and economic assistance provided to Armenia by China.
Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan presented the approaches of Armenia with regards the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In his turn, Li Huilai reaffirmed the principled position of the People`s Republic of China that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled exclusively through peaceful negotiations.
The diplomats of Armenia and China exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
